Putu and Ria’s family know Mayong intimately. They grew up surrounded by the village landscape, agricultural traditions, local customs, and the everyday rhythms of Balinese rural life. During the walk, they will share their personal knowledge and stories, giving you an authentic understanding of what life is really like in their community.

Rather than following a fixed tourist route, the experience follows the natural pathways of their village and countryside, allowing you to discover Mayong through a genuinely local perspective.

Walk Through the Real Mayong Village

The walking experience takes you along quiet village paths, through rice fields, plantations, gardens, traditional farming areas, and the surrounding tropical countryside.

As you walk, you will discover how the landscape is connected to everyday Balinese life.

Your local guide will explain:

  •  How rice is traditionally cultivated and cared for
  • Tropical plants and crops commonly grown by local families
  • Traditional medicinal plants and how their knowledge has been passed from one generation to the next
  • Native vegetation and the importance of plants in village life
  • Fruit trees, spices, herbs, and other plants growing around local homes and farms
  • Traditional farming practices and how agriculture supports local families
  • How village homes, gardens, farms, and community spaces are connected
  • Everyday family life and community traditions
  • Balinese customs, beliefs, ceremonies, and cultural values
  • The relationship between the people, the land, and the surrounding natural environment

This is an opportunity to ask questions, stop along the way, observe local activities, take photographs, and simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the countryside.

Return Home for an Authentic Balinese Lunch

After exploring the village and countryside, return to Putu and Ria’s family home for a truly authentic Balinese lunch.

Forget the restaurant setting—sit together with the family, enjoy freshly prepared local dishes, and experience the warmth of a real Balinese household.

Taste traditional home cooking made with local ingredients, herbs, and spices, while learning about Balinese food traditions.
